Wayback Wednesday: Whoopi Goldberg
November 13th marks the 64th birthday for the irrepressible Whoopi Goldberg. Born Caryn Elaine Johnson in Manhattan, the girl who became Whoopi worked all kinds of odd jobs before getting into standup comedy. She also got a Broadway show which ran in 1984 and 85. She began getting film roles, and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1990 for her role as Oda Mae in “Ghost”. Later she played Guinan in Star Trek the Next Generation. And of course, she’s co-hosted “The View” on ABC-TV each morning since 2007.
