Wayback Wednesday: Little Deuce Coupe
On October 7th, 1963 The Beach Boys released their album Little Deuce Coupe. It was their 4th album, and the 3rd released in ’63. It’s considered one of the first concept albums, centered around Hot Rods. 8 tracks on the album were new…with Little Deuce Coupe, Shut Down, 409, and Our Car Club all released on one of their previous LP’s. (Capitol Records had, without the Beach Boys knowledge or involvement, put out a compilation album called Shut Down in the Summer of ’63). Brian Wilson was prompted to finish up several songs he’d been working on, along with DJ Roger Christian, and the band hastily recorded the songs, putting the album out, amazingly, just one month after Surfer Girl was released.
