Wayback Wednesday: Ernie Isley
March 7th is the 66th birthday of Ernie Isley, of the legendary Isley Brothers. He joined his older brothers in the group in the mid 60’s. The Isleys lived for many years in the Teaneck & Englewood area in New Jersey.
His first recording session came on the smash hit “It’s Your Thing” in 1968, playing bass. He co-wrote many of the Isley Brothers’ hits in the 1970’s, including “That Lady”, on which he plays that wild guitar solo. Here are the Isleys live with that great funky soul classic.
