Seger Unveils New Track, New Album Details
Bob Seger premiered the first song from his new album — a cover of Lou Reed‘s “Busload Of Faith” — on stage Thursday night (September 21) in Cincinnati, in front of its’ release today (Friday, September 22).
Seger also announced a November 17 release date for his new album, I Knew You When, the follow-up to 2014’s Ride Out.
The song is being released to radio only, with no download or streaming available yet. Seger announced that both the song and album were coming during a September 9 show in his hometown of Detroit; He had hoped to play “Busload Of Faith” that night but it was delayed, and he promised to perform it during his return on Saturday (September 23) at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Seger recorded “Busload Of Faith” during May in Nashville with members of his current Silver Bullet Band; The song originally appeared on Reed’s critically acclaimed 1989 album New York, though Seger changed some of the lyrics, switching Reed’s “You can’t depend on the churches/Unless there’s real estate you want to buy” to “You can’t depend on the president…” More details about “I Knew You When” are expected to be announced soon.
Seger and the Silver Bullets are currently scheduled to wrap up their Runaway Train Tour on the day the album is released, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, although another run of shows is rumored for 2018.
