Bret Michaels Adopting a Dog Named After Him is the Type of Good News We Need Right Now
Bret Michaels adopting a dog named after him is one of those heartwarming stories that even the biggest pessimist can get behind.
Dog Bret Michaels is a six-year-old husky who helped save a kitten’s life. The Nebraska Humane Society shared that this dog’s blood was used to provide a transfusion for a month-old kitten dealing with flea anemia. They wrote, in part, in the post below, “A round of ap-paws for Bret Michaels for being such a calm and brave boy, and to our vet team for their quick thinking. Little man is now on the road to recovery, and Bret Michaels is waiting patiently for his forever family!”
By now, you can guess what happened. Rock star Bret Michaels hears about this brave pooch, and he wants to adopt him. The Nebraska Human Society shared this update days later and wrote, in part, “We can’t wait to see how he thrives in his new home. We just hope it doesn’t get too confusing when someone tells Bret Michaels to fetch!”

Michaels shared photos of his new dog on Instagram. He captioned the photos, “He’s got everything that says – I’m Bret Michaels, A Husky, and I’ve been adopted by Bret Michaels, The Rockstar.”
In a follow-up post, Michaels shared the kitten that was saved with the blood transfusion has been named Roses & Thorn. He says his “new mission” is to find a home for Roses & Thorn.
Michaels (the rock star) is a known animal lover. Earlier this month, he sadly had to say goodbye to his German Shepherd, Phoenix. He shared via Instagram, “Phoenix, I love you and I’ll forever miss you. Your family loves you beyond anything you know, and I know your brother Diesel is waiting for you to run in those fields of glory. You have been a part of all of our lives for so long and will forever be loved and missed.”
