Chadwick Boseman’s ‘21 Bridges’ Has An ‘Avengers’ Connection
Chadwick Boseman is back fighting the bad guys, but not as Black Panther. This time around, he’s one of the boys in blue.
In the trailer for 21 Bridges, Boseman plays NYPD detective Andre Davis, who is tasked with stopping the crooks who killed eight cops in a robbery gone wrong. And to do it, he’s going to have to close “the island.”
“What island?” a cop asks him. “Manhattan,” Boseman shouts back.
The clip for the film. directed by The Russo Brothers, a.k.a the guys who made Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, is an action-packed thrill ride through the Big Apple. While the 21 bridges on the isle of Manhattan may be closed, Boseman is finding other ways to get around. He’s dodging bullets and trying to stay clear of near car collisions. And there’s a subway fight that is definitely going to make a lot of straphangers angry. Ah, just imagine the delays.
The trailer premiered at Comic-Con on Friday and in a video message from Boseman, he revealed how he got the 21 Bridges role. The Russos, he said, per Entertainment Weekly, “actually came to me the night of the premiere of Infinity War, after I ‘died.’” Hopefully, Boseman can make it out of this one alive.
