Seger also released a statement saying that “his recovery from surgery last month is progressing very well” and that the rescheduled dates for his interrupted Runaway Train Tour “are being mapped for a coast to coast reboot of the tour this spring,” with “more details in the coming weeks.”
Seger had played 13 shows on the tour before coming off the road to deal with “an urgent medical issue with is vertebrae.
The I Knew You When album is dedicated to Seger’s good friend Glenn Frey, a fellow Michigan native and co-founder of Eagles who died during January of 2016. The deluxe edition of the album includes “Glenn Song,” which Seger recorded for Frey on the first anniversary of his death.
The album, Seger’s 18th overall, will be available at all streaming services, while Tidal and Pandora will also be streaming 13 of Seger’s catalog albums for the first time. Seger’s official web site, BobSeger.com, is offering special merchandise bundles to coincide with the album’s release.
