Ann Wilson on Making New Solo Music
With Heart on hiatus, Ann Wilson is looking to make some of her own music in the near future.
The singer is currently out on tour with her own band, playing Heart material and a selection of covers, but she tells us that she wants to add some new original music to her catalog as well:
“Yeah, definitely working on that. When we get back, when the tour’s over later in the fall I’ll go into my home studio and we will do it, ’cause there is stuff coming…Just being out in the world is, I mean you see so many things and every day you’re experiencing so many concepts and different people and their coolness and weirdness. It’s a feast of ideas.”
Wilson currently has shows booked into August and she’s also filmed one of her concerts, in Wilmington, N.C., that will be turned into a release, most likely this year:
“Yeah, there’s a DVD in the works…It’s been filmed already. They’re just editing now and mixing; In fact, Mike Flicker, who produced ‘Dreamboat Annie,’ ‘Little Queen,’ ‘Magazine,’ ‘Bebe le Strange’ and ‘Dog & Butterfly’ is doing the mixes…They’re still working on it…There’s a lot of documentary footage in it. It’s not a straight live thing. There’s all kinds of B-roll and interview footage, and it’s gonna be really cool.”
Wilson released her first solo album, the guest-laden Hope & Glory, in 2007, as well as a pair of EPs as the Ann Wilson Thing, in 2015 and 2016.
