Craig Davis

About

Craig DavisI was about 10 years old, when I saw the new, local radio station during a remote broadcast. Spinning records, presenting the news…the whole show! I was immediately mesmerized, and knew that radio was my calling. As a teen, I joined the 4-H radio club, which gave me my first practical experience. In my first week at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I walked into the public radio station, and while they didn’t know what to do with me, they couldn’t let me walk out the door. By my senior year, I was a news anchor on the statewide network. After graduation, I returned to New Jersey, and went into “programming.” Working at several NJ stations, I was a Program Director, before heading to Philadelphia and suburban New York City. I am thrilled to share my love of radio, and classic music, with WMTR fans!

Hometown and what you like best about it:

Hillsborough (Somerset County) is a great place to live! Just about anything I need is within walking distance…although I will walk farther than most, without thinking about it. Great restaurants…quiet (friendly) neighborhoods…and rolling farm land! My sister owns a working horse farm in our hometown. While I have lived elsewhere in my radio life, I always seem to gravitate back to Hillsborough (voted amongst the Top 100 places to live in the USA several times).

What makes New Jersey a great place to live?

New Jersey is a great place to live, because we have it ALL! City life, and rural towns. Rolling farmland. Forest areas. The Pine Barrens in South Jersey. And, of course, the Jersey Shore! And, it’s all in easy driving distance!

If you weren’t living here but could live anywhere on earth, where would it be and why?
Somewhere in the Bahamas…endless “Sand, Surf, Sun and Fun!”

If you could own any classic car what would it be?

Favorite movie of all time:
It’s a toss up…2 movies that can’t be more different: “JAWS” and “Animal House”

Sean Connery. No one is more suave than the original James Bond! Plus, Connery is great in “Outland,” “The Untouchables” and “Finding Forrester” amongst others, in his post-007 years.

Favorite Actress:
Scarlett Johansson. Check out “Lost In Translation” (2003), and you’ll know why.

The Twilight Zone. Need I say, the Rod Serling original?

Favorite Food:
Pizza

Favorite Dessert:
Anything CHOCOLATE! (Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, if you are strictly defining desserts).

Favorite Vacation Spot:
Northern Wisconsin….where you can easily “get away from it all!” Nice people, small towns that you can miss if you blink, forests…and great fishing!

Favorite thing to do when you are not on the radio?
I love hanging out with family and friends! Especially my niece and nephew, Emily and Ethan.
