It’s that time of year again and the Rockefeller Christmas tree is en route to New York City. The 2022 tree was unveiled earlier this week and was found in Queensbury, New York.
The 82-foot Norway Spruce is 50 feet wide and weighs 14 tons. According to the Today Show, the tree is approximately 85 to 90 years old and will arrive in New York City on November 12.
The annual tradition first began in December 1933. It continues to be a holiday beacon for more than eight decades while entertaining New Yorkers and visitors around the world alike.
The annual tree lighting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 30. Following the festive kick-off to the holiday season, the tree will be lit daily from 6 am until 12 am.
If you can’t make it to New York City, you can watch the tree lighting from home on November 30 at 8 pm ET. The ceremony will be hosted by NBC News TODAY co-anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker, and Craig Melvin.
