Christine McVie Tribute Planned for 2023 Grammy Awards
Christine McVie will be honored with a special performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards.
According to Grammy.com, Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt and Mick Fleetwood will perform a rendition of “Songbird” at the award ceremony. Written and sung by McVie, “Songbird” is featured on Fleetwood Mac’s landmark 1977 album Rumours.
Fleetwood also shared the news of the performance on social media. He wrote, “Teaming up with the two legends @bonnieraittofficial and @sherylcrow to pay tribute to our song bird @christinemcvieofficial at this year’s @recordingacademy #Grammys. Tune in on @cbstv 8pm ET / 5pm PT.”
The performance of “Songbird” is one of three special performances part of the Grammy’s In Memoriam segment. Also being honored are Loretta Lynn and Takeoff from the rap trio the Migos. Kacey Musgraves is performing “Coal Miner’s Daughter” in honor of Lynn, while Maverick City Music and Migos’ Quavo are performing “Without You” in honor of Takeoff.
McVie died on November 30, 2022 at age 79 following a short illness. Details on the illness have not been shared with the public.
The 2023 Grammy Awards air live on CBS on February 5 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT.
