Walmart Is Getting Into The Pet Insurance Game
The current pandemic has caused pet adoption rates to soar in the U.S., and Walmart is taking advantage. Per the New York Post, the retail chain has partnered with insurance provider Petplan, which offers a 10 percent discount on veterinary bills.
Walmart is also teaming up with Rover to launch Walmart Pet Care. The outlet states, “This service a pet-sitting and dog-walking service in what Walmart is describing as a one-stop shopping experience for pet owners.”
A rep for Walmart explained their reasoning for getting into pet care. They said, “As adoption rates soar as a result of the pandemic and more people become pet owners, this was the perfect time to launch expanded services in Walmart Pet Care for our customers.”
Walmart is also trying to entice customers with some extra incentives. Right now, they are offering a $20 gift cards after a customer’s first booking with Rover. They’ll also throw in another $20 after their fifth booking within six months.
