16-Foot Cardboard Tree Takes Over Asbury Park Holiday Bazaar
A massive cardboard tree soars 16 feet high inside Asbury Park’s Grand Arcade. The eye-catching display, called The Giving Tree, sits at the heart of the town’s fourth annual Holiday Bazaar running Fridays through Sundays until Dec. 30, 2024.
Local artists Michael LaVallee and Bradley Hoffer crafted this impressive piece from the ground up. Jason Dermer of Asbury Audio brought it to life with sparkling lights that shimmer across the tree. People can check it out daily between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Each weekend, excited kids line up to see Santa next to the tree, bringing presents for kids in need. The bazaar’s toy drive will help make Christmas morning special for hundreds of local children.
Wooden Walls Project founder Jenn Hampton sees the bigger picture. “A lot of experiences aren’t free anymore, so we try to do as much as we can to ensure that art is available to everyone,” she said.
The bazaar’s walkways buzz with weekend shoppers all through December. Local crafts catch people’s attention at every stall, while live music fills the space, and hands-on workshops keep things lively.
The tree pulls people in to learn about local groups doing good in the community. Its unique look gets folks talking and helps build connections.
