New Jersey Steak And Oyster House Recognized For Their Awesome Seafood
In New Jersey, seafood is certainly acceptable to order any time of year. In warmer weather seasons, perhaps this cuisine type does take center stage, however. It simply pairs well with eating outside, summer cocktails, and sunshine. Food Network detailed the best seafood restaurant in New Jersey, and a Steak and Oyster House got the nod.
Located at 1201 E Bay Ave, Manahawkin, The Old Causeway Steak and Oyster House is the place you have to try. “It serves a fantastic selection of Barnegat Light scallops, clams straight out of the bay and a selection of high-quality oysters from the East and West coasts,” Food Network states.
The raw bar is the first section you will see when browsing the menu. This is where you will find everything from shrimp cocktails to clams on the half-shell. The seafood towers are also quite the site. They serve anywhere from 2-8 people and include a hearty portion of clams, shrimp, oysters, and lobster.
As the name suggests, The Old Causeway also offers oysters that are fan favorites. These include Rockafeller and Fire Roasted options. Perhaps the most unique, however, are the “Jersey Devils Oysters.” These are fried oysters on top of deviled eggs.
Lobster fries, crab cakes, and mussels are also popular seafood items here.
The Old Causeway also emphasizes offering a wide range of drink options to accompany your meal. “We offer a new creative cocktail menu each season as well as standard favorites, 20 beers on tap, and a fine selection of wines,” they say.
Another Great New Jersey Seafood Option
If you are traveling through the northern part of the state there’s an Italian restaurant in Bergen County that flies under the radar for its seafood menu. Savini in Allendale certainly gets attention for it’s classic chicken and pasta dishes, in addition to it’s great bar. The seafood options here though are incredibly fresh and delicious.
Start off with an order of clams oreganata. They are served hot and are the perfect balance of juicy, but with loads of flavor, as the seasoning and baked clams mesh so well together. If you feel the need for a pasta to try given the atmosphere, order the clams as a shared plate. Then Savini allows you to get a small or “appetizer” portion of their pasta dishes. The penne alla vodka is the perfect choice here as a bridge to your main course.
Finally, the baked lemon sole is light and tasty—it’s a plate you won’t want to end. In a similar fashion to the clams, the season breadcrumb top paired with the lemon juice perfectly accents the fish. Lobster tails over linguini also stand out at this New Jersey restaurant. It, too, is served all year round.
