World Food Day 2020: Raising Awareness Amidst COVID-19
Today (Friday, October 16) is World Food Day!
World Food Day 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) of the United Nations.
The theme for this year’s national holiday is “Grow, Nourish, Sustain. Together. Our Actions Are Our Future.” World Food Day highlights the cultural and traditional significance of local ingredients and food.
World Food Day will also address the serious food insecurity related issues and widespread effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Preserving access to safe and nutritious food is and will continue to be an essential part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for poor and vulnerable communities, who are hit hardest by the pandemic and resulting economic shocks,” the FAO website states.
