Devils Gala: A Night of Curling, Casino Games, and Charity at Prudential Center
The New Jersey Devils will throw their yearly Sweep the Deck Gala at Newark’s Prudential Center. Scheduled for Jan. 30, 2025, this fundraising event directly funds youth programs across New Jersey and New York. The gala broke records last year, raising $1.67 million. Since 2021, the Devils Youth Foundation has poured $4 million into local communities, mainly supporting non-profits throughout both states. The foundation helps numerous local organizations. They support Hockey in New Jersey, Ice Hockey in Harlem, the Coalition for Health Equity, and United Community Corporation.
Kicking off at 6 p.m., the evening continues as a VIP celebration until 10 p.m., with Prudential Financial sponsoring the late-night festivities. The main floor will become a dazzling casino setup, featuring gaming tables for poker, roulette, and craps.
“Galas are pretty similar across the board so we thought about how do we do something unique and give people something to look forward to,” Devils President Jake Reynolds said to Hockey News reporter Catherine Bogart. “Bringing curling and cards to life, give people a chance to get out on the ice, we’ve got an unbelievable auction here, interact with the players, have our players dealing blackjack and playing craps with you, bartending with you, the combination of bringing our fans together, our community together and players together is really meaningful.”
Players will mix with guests during the event. Team favorites Nico Hischier, Ondrej Palat, and Jack Hughes are set to show up, alongside hockey greats Martin Brodeur and Ken Daneyko. Music will come from two spots, the talented Newark Arts High School Latin Band and Devils DJ, TJ, spinning tunes. Adding to the fun, the ice rink becomes a curling zone where guests can play alongside pro athletes. The menu features ski-lodge-themed food and drinks. While guests enjoy the refreshments, they can bid on items in silent and live auctions, plus grab photos in the team’s locker room.
Both silent and live auctions will happen throughout the night. After the main festivities end, the party continues until 10.
