5 Movies We’re Excited About In 2025
Now that everyone has shared their lists of their favorite 2024 films, lets look forward to this year. If you’re just a movie buff interested in knowing what’s showing next year, here are five movies with 2025 release dates that have us excited.
Movies with 2025 Release Dates
Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning
Starring: Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Hayley Atwell as Grace, Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis, Esai Morales as Gabriel, Pom Klementieff as Paris, Angela Bassett as Erika Sloane
Release Date: May 23, 2025
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will continue Cruise’s action-packed legacy with more explosions and gravity-defying stunts. From the trailer and the title, we can infer two things: it could mark the end of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt (the ominous “final” in the title) and his dialogue, “I need you to trust me, one last time,” or it might signal the conclusion of Esai Morales’ villainous Gabriel, with Mission: Impossible 9 (if there is one) introducing a new villain.
Jurassic World Rebirth
Starring: Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis, Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid
Release Date: July 2, 2025
Just as we thought we had seen the last of dinosaurs terrorizing people, we received news that Jurassic World: Rebirth is coming. The fourth film in the Jurassic World series and the seventh in the overall Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World: Rebirth is a standalone sequel. It follows Zora Bennett, Dr. Henry Loomis, and Duncan Kincaid as they embark on a mission to obtain genetic materials from three of the biggest dinosaurs on Earth, containing lifesaving benefits for all of mankind.
Johansson said in an interview with Comicbook.com, “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable. I can’t believe it.”
Superman
Starring: David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane
Release Date: July 11, 2025
Have you seen the trailer for James Gunn’s Superman? Here are our five key takeaways. This film kicks off DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Superman follows Clark Kent as he tries to reconcile his heritage with his human upbringing. The trailer also introduces several DC characters: Guy Gardner, a rough and rude member of the Green Lantern Corps; Hawkgirl, a superhero with wings and an immortal warrior; Mister Terrific, an inventor who uses his creations to fight crime; and Metamorpho, a superhero who can “transmute elements in his body into various forms, taking those properties on as powers,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Of course, we’re also excited to see the film because of Krypto since it’s the character’s debut in a live-action movie. However, Gunn warned us that Superman’s relationship with Krypto or Superdog is “complicated” and that “he’s not nearly the best dog,” according to Deadline.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Starring: Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm
Release Date: July 25, 2025
Yes, yes, yes. Marvel is releasing yet another Fantastic Four, because it seems they won’t stop until they get it right. Frankly, we’re already okay in a world where Chris Evans is Johnny Storm (although that might mean he won’t be Steve Rogers) but seeing Stranger Things Joseph Quinn take the mantle looks promising. Of course, we love Pedro Pascal, and we’ll watch anything as long as he’s in it.
The plot of the film includes “Marvel’s First Family,” Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they defend a 1960’s inspired futuristic world against Galactus, a ravenous space god intending to devour Earth with the help of his Herald, Silver Surfer.
Wicked: For Good
Starring: Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good, Cynthia Erivo as the Wicked Witch of the West, Ethan Slater as Boq, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Release Date: November 21, 2025
Wicked: For Good since it’s been loyal to its adaptation of the Broadway musical, will likely show Act 2, where Elphaba and Galinda embraced their roles of being “Glinda the Good” and the “Wicked Witch of the West.”
Here’s everything we know about Wicked: For Good.
