Jon Bon Jovi has aged very well. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for his band's music videos, particularly the one for their debut single "Runaway."

The frontman is well aware that the music video is not great and admitted so in an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock. JBJ said, "God knows things like 'Runaway' and some of those early [music videos] were just dreck!"

He chaulks the video's quality up to the music video artform being so new at the time. Bon Jovi noted, "It was the advent of MTV; we're talking 1983, remember, and everyone was with shoulder pads and dance moves."

This is far from the first time the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer has bashed the video for "Runaway." He tore it apart during a May 2023 interview with Andy Cohen.

"You want to embarrass me? Tie me to a chair and make me watch videos from my first two albums," said Bon Jovi.

When Cohen follows up and asks if the "Runaway" video is included among that group, JBJ responds, "Horrible! Horrible!"

Jon Bon Jovi is EVERYWHERE Lately

If you think Jon Bon Jovi has been getting more press than usual lately, you're not wrong. He has seemingly been doing interviews left and right, but there are two good reasons for that.

For starters, the new docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story hits Hulu on Friday, April 26.

The four-part docuseries features new interviews with the band and will be a deep dive into Bon Jovi's history. It sounds like no stone will go unturned in this venture, with the exit of guitarist Richie Sambora being addressed.

Additionally, the docuseries will touch on the singer's recent vocal issues. He also told Ultimate Classic Rock, "It's become public knowledge now, but I've had major reconstructive surgery in my vocal cords, and I never had anything like this, ever. So it's been a difficult road, but I found a doctor in Philadelphia who did something called a medialization, because one of my cords was literally atrophied."

On top of the docuseries, Bon Jovi is also releasing their 16th studio album Forever, which comes out on June 7. Along with announcing the new album, the band dropped its lead single, "Legendary."

"Legendary" can be heard below and is available for streaming/download here. Meanwhile, Forever is available for pre-save/pre-order here.
