WMTR’s Wayback Wednesday today salutes a Rock and Rock hall of Famer who is very underrated.

It’s the 75th birthday of guitarist and vocalist Tony Hicks, who’s been a member of The Hollies since 1963! They got their first record contract in April of ’63 and quickly became one of the most successful bands in Britain.

With Tony providing sensational lead guitar licks and doing the lower harmony, they also had Allan Clarke on the lead vocals and Graham Nash providing the high harmony. Bobby Elliott was their fantastic drummer.

The group still performs today, but with Clarke retiring in 1999, only Hicks and Elliott remain from their 60’s heyday.

Here’s a live version of “Look Through Any Window” released in the US in September 1965. Check out Tony on the Vox 12 string!
