New Jersey Locations Among Yelp’s Top 100 Donut Shops In The U.S.

National Donut Day is taking place on Friday, June 3 this year, and what better way to celebrate than to visit your local shops or bakeries.

In honor of the tasty treat and special occasion, we’re highlighting the New Jersey donut shops that have made Yelp’s Top 100 Donut Shops in the United States for 2022.

Yelp revealed they “found a surprising trend in donut styles and baking techniques” while scouring the nation for “the best bakers of America’s glazed, iced, dipped, sprinkled, and cream-filled confections.”

And it's still my personal favorite.The story behind the birthday dozen:We grew up with very little.When I was young, my father was chronically ill and often in the hospital, Our mom was working low-paying jobs to make ends meet. Boxes of donated food from the church with the huge blocks of government cheese were always a welcome addition to supplement our small pantry. So while much of the year was lean, birthdays were always something that meant a lot to us kids. And there was a local ice cream parlor called Farrell's that did a great job celebrating our birthdays and making kids feel every bit as important as the adults. I remember they would turn the lights on and off and then the employees would start blowing various instruments while announcing that someone had a birthday. They would haul out a huge ice cream sundae and place it in front of the lucky birthday boy or a girl, who looked at it with eyes wide with delight. It was just a really special event in a small town; own private Disneyland. At Pip's we wanted to keep the spirit alive in our own way by offering everyone a dozen free doughnuts on your birthday. But we do not limit it to kids because we believe that every birthday deserves to be celebrated. It's been one of our greatest pleasures to watch children grow up with Pips....To see them get their first birthday dozen on their 1st birthday and to still be celebrating with them nearly 10 years later is a real honor.🎉Thank you for celebrating with our family!
