INTERFAITH FOOD PANTRY

On Saturday, May 12th Letter Carriers across the country will take part in their 26th Annual “Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive”. The drive, sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), is America’s largest one-day food collection event that provides millions of pounds of food to local hunger relief agencies. To help, all you need to do is place non-perishable food items in a bag next to your mailbox before your letter carrier arrives on Saturday, May 12th, and your letter carrier will do the rest. Food collected is donated to local food pantries. In the areas of Madison, Chatham, Florham Park, Cedar Knolls, Whippany, Morristown, Morris Plains, Mendham, Dover, Rockaway, Mountain Lakes and Parsippany the food will be donated to the Interfaith Food Pantry, which serves Morris County residents. Some of the items most needed are canned soup, canned fruit, canned tuna, evaporated, dry or shelf stable milk, pasta sauce in cans or plastic jars, canned beans (such as kidney, pinto, etc.), pasta and cereal.

“We have worked with the local Letter Carriers for many years and are so grateful for their hard work and for their partnership in our efforts to fight local hunger”, said Joanne Rinaldi Brashier, Interfaith Food Pantry Community Relations and Development Associate. “They truly care and understand that many hardworking people still struggle with the high cost of living here in Morris County and may be one illness or car breakdown away from needing food assistance.”

In 2017, the Interfaith Food Pantry served over 10,000 people, distributing more than 1.1 million pounds of food. Food Pantry clients include low-income working families and their children, senior citizens living on fixed incomes, people with disabilities and others unemployed or in crisis.
