January 19th marks the 215th anniversary of the birth of Edgar Allan Poe, one of the United States’ most famous authors. The 19th-century poet, fiction writer, editor and literary critic is best known for his tales of mystery and the macabre, and was one of the earliest American writers of the short story. He even helped develop modern code deciphering, a tool that helped the Allies win World War II.  Join us as we take a look at the life and times of American literature’s favorite troubled soul and learn more about Poe’s unsettled existence and his contribution to many of our modern ways of thinking.
