There truly is much to celebrate at Corpus Christi Parish, Chatham Township, NJ this month with an Installation Mass of Fr. T. Kevin Corcoran, as the 3rd Pastor in the 50 year history of Corpus Christi Church that will take place on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 11 am followed by a welcoming reception.
Most Reverend Arthur J. Serratelli, Bishop of the Paterson Diocese, will preside at the Rite of Installation. His presence reminds us that Corpus Christi Parish is not a Church in isolation, but that it is part of the much larger Diocesan and Universal Church.
The installation ritual recognizes Father Kevin’s intention to minister to us, but it is noted that it also expresses our intention to minister to him through prayerful support and mutual cooperation.
Corpus Christi celebrates 50 Years as a parish with its dedication that took place on March 15th, 1969 with the Rev. Stephen J. Patch as the first pastor. This was followed by Monsignor James T. Mahoney who retired in January of this year and saw the Church grow to 2,232 families in 48 towns.
Fr. Kevin comes directly to Corpus Christi from the Office of the Bishop where he served as priest-secretary to Bishop Arthur J. Serratelli. In addition to being priest-secretary to the Bishop, Father Kevin was Vice Chancellor and Master of Ceremonies for Episcopal Liturgical events in the Diocese.
Fr. Kevin has also served as a priest at St. Anthony Parish in Hawthorne, NJ and St. Mary’s Parish, Goldsboro, NC.
Fr. Kevin was raised in Dover, NJ, as the third of five children. He graduated from Morris Catholic High School in Denville in 1986. He also spent four years in the U.S. Air Force as an enlisted airman, working in electronics calibration. During this time, he was stationed in Texas, Colorado and Korea. While in Korea, he received a Black Belt in Taekwondo at the University of Seoul.
In response to a vocation to the priesthood, Father Kevin did theological studies, receiving both a B.A. and M.A. in Theology from St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1999.
Corpus Christi welcomes Fr. Kevin as their third pastor and looks forward to many great years under his stewardship.
