New Jersey’s #1 Ice Cream Flavor

I always get the same reaction when I say vanilla is my favorite ice cream flavor, “That’s so boring.” Maybe it is but there’s something about vanilla that always tastes better than any other. I love it by itself or with some caramel drizzled over the top, it is, by far, my favorite dessert. It always takes me back to summertime when I was a kid and chasing down the Mister Softee ice cream truck to get a giant cone of vanilla soft serve. Sadly, CNN reported recently that Mister Softee trucks seem to be an endangered species. At one time there were over two thousand of mobile ice cream shops rolling around the country. According to an interview from their home office in New Jersey, today there are only six hundred thirty. MRO did some research to find out the favorite ice cream flavor in New Jersey and each state in the country. Spoiler alert: Vanilla is not at the top of any list, but four states agree with me, Arkansas, District of Columbia, Oregon, and Vermont. New Jersey’s Favorite Ice Cream Flavor According to search data from every state collected over the last year to find which ice cream flavor and brand are America’s favorites, New Jersey seems partial to mint chocolate chip. It’s also the most popular flavor in Pennsylvania and Delaware. It also happens to be New York’s favorite along with many others including Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Utah, Wisconsin, and nine others. “At the top of the ice cream flavor pyramid sits none other than the classic chocolate. Is it the smooth, velvety texture or the deep, decadent flavor that makes it clear that chocolate is the king of flavors in the U.S.?” Other flavors that made the list include chocolate chip, cookies and cream, pistachio, rocky road, strawberry, and watermelon. New Jersey's Favorite Ice Cream Brand The study also looked at the favorite ice cream brands with New Jersey’s preference found to be Talenti along with sixteen other states making it the number one brand in the country.
