Target opened a 150,000-square-foot shop at West Orange Plaza. It's the 55th in New Jersey. The store brought about 280 jobs to the area, sitting at 235 Prospect Ave. in West Orange, making it the third Target to debut statewide over the past year.
The shop serves as a co-anchor with a recently expanded Whole Foods. Officials announced plans for this spot back in 2024, part of the shopping center's ongoing makeover.
North Plainfield-based Levin Management Corporation handles leasing duties. LMC collaborates with the center's joint-venture owners and the construction management crew on transforming the plaza.
"Bringing Target to West Orange Plaza marks an exciting step in the property's evolution," said Sidney Singer, LMC's VP of Leasing, according to Jersey Digs. "This addition introduces one of the nation's best-known retailers to the center, enhances the shopping experience for the community, and reinforces West Orange Plaza's strength as a retail destination."
Shoppers can use drive-up service, order pickup, and same-day delivery through Target Circle 360. Next-day delivery works across West Orange. CVS Pharmacy and Starbucks run as in-store partners.
LMC secured more leases at the plaza. Namkeen Hot Chicken, Quickway Japanese Hibachi, VIO Med Spa, and Club Pilates will arrive as part of an outparcel development program. These businesses will join a mix of national and regional shops.
"The arrival of Target represents an important milestone within the broader redevelopment now underway at West Orange Plaza," said Max Gagneon, VP of Construction for LMC. "Our team continues to advance a multimillion-dollar redevelopment that includes new buildings, expanded outparcel space, and site upgrades, positioning the property for future tenants while enhancing the experience for the community."
Plans include new buildings. Expanded outparcel space is coming too, with site upgrades part of the transformation plan.
