Scott Kirby will appear at the ReNew Jersey Business Summit & Expo on March 31. He runs United Airlines as Chief Executive Officer. The New Jersey Chamber of Commerce made this known on March 2.
Tom Bergeron, founder and editor of BINJE, will interview Kirby. They'll talk about how the economy is doing now, what's ahead for airlines, and what United plans to do in New Jersey.
Their talk will cover money United is putting into the Garden State. They'll discuss jobs being created and how the airline helps businesses.
Kirby has worked in airlines for over thirty years. He's been CEO since 2020. Before that, he spent four years as president, running operations, marketing, sales, alliances, network planning, and revenue management. He chairs the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board. He sits on the International Air Transport Association Board of Governors too. Before United, he held top jobs at American Airlines and US Airways.
"We're thrilled to welcome Scott Kirby to the ReNew Jersey Business Summit & Expo," said Tom Bracken, President & CEO of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, per Insider NJ.com. "United Airlines is a major economic driver in our state, and Scott's leadership has helped position the company for long-term growth while strengthening its commitment to New Jersey."
United matters a lot to New Jersey's economy. Newark Liberty International Airport serves as its hub. No other airline flies more planes out of that airport. United connects New Jersey to over 160 places worldwide. It's one of the state's ten biggest employers. More than 14,000 people who live in New Jersey work for United, and that number keeps growing. The airline pumps more than $16 billion into the state each year.
The summit runs two days — March 31 and April 1. Over 900 business leaders from across New Jersey will show up. More than 100 companies will display what they sell and offer. Fifty speakers will present at fifteen sessions about the state's economy. Panels will tackle energy costs, what's coming for colleges, problems in healthcare, and how to grow the economy.
