Habit Burger & Grill is spreading across New Jersey. Two spots are under construction. A third awaits approval from town planners.
The California-based burger chain has marked spots in Englewood and Woodbridge as "coming soon" on its website, which would push the company's count to 19 from its current 17 across the state.
Developer M&M at Route 70 wants to build a 2,426-square-foot restaurant in Brick Township, according to NJ.com. The planning board will hear the pitch Wednesday.
Should the board say yes, Brick Township would become the chain's first outpost in Ocean County. Englewood sits in Bergen County. Woodbridge falls within Middlesex County.
The chain started in Santa Barbara back in 1969. Habit Burger & Grill cooks burgers, chicken, and tuna over open flames.
Salads appear on the menu too. So do hand-spun milkshakes. The company's website touts "chef-driven, award-winning" items made fresh when you order.
Yum! Brands owns Habit Burger & Grill. That's the same parent company behind KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. The corporation purchased the burger chain to widen its holdings.
These three spots show a big move into New Jersey markets, and the Brick Township planning board will weigh the developer's blueprints during Wednesday's session.
The chain wants to grow bigger in the Garden State. It runs 17 spots now. Three more would bump that number up by over 15%.
Neither Englewood nor Woodbridge has an opening date yet. Brick Township needs the green light from planners before builders can start.
