Newark Public Schools posted job openings for principals, teachers, and Support workers for New Media High School. The school launches in September 2026, preparing students for work in content creation, video production, and entertainment management.
Anyone interested can view listings and submit applications using the district's online portal. Officials seek educators, administrators, and professionals with creative backgrounds to build the program from scratch.
"New Media High School is an opportunity for teachers, school leaders, and creative professionals to help build something truly groundbreaking," said Superintendent León in a statement, per PR Newswire.com. "If you are passionate about innovation, eager to collaborate with industry partners, and committed to preparing students for careers in content creation, video media production, or entertainment management, we want you. This is a chance to shape a school, a program, and — most importantly — the futures of our students."
Board of Education President Hasani K. Council wants staff who can inspire young minds. "New Media High School needs skilled, forward-thinking staff who are excited to teach, mentor, and help students turn their creativity into careers," said Council. "We invite professionals who believe in public education and Newark's potential to be part of this historic launch."
Students will gain hands-on experience through partnerships. The school links with colleges and businesses. Apprenticeships await. So do internships and actual jobs with companies in the field.
This marks the 12th school opening since Superintendent León took charge in 2018. The model mirrors other recent district high schools, which connect teens with colleges and working professionals.
Eighth-graders who want to attend can apply at NewarkEnrolls.org. Students hoping to join the inaugural ninth-grade class must submit applications by January 30.
