Konala Secures First New Jersey Location in Belleville, Plans 10 More Across State
Bowls come in varieties like Teriyaki Chicken, Greek Steak, and Chicken Burrito. Diners pick from white rice, brown rice, greens, or a combination as their base.

Konala, a fast-casual protein bowl chain, is coming to New Jersey, with the first location set for Belleville Township.
A franchisee locked down a lease at 11 Franklin Ave. in Belleville Township. Franchisee Anthony Menicola inked the deal after signing rights to the territory earlier this year, with plans to launch 10 spots statewide within five years.
The Belleville site sits beside Chipotle and Starbucks. Heavy traffic flows through the corridor daily, giving the drive-thru concept prime exposure and easy access for customers.
"This is an exciting step for us," said Anthony Menicola, according to RestaurantNews.com. "It's a prime, high-traffic area surrounded by strong national brands: perfect for introducing a drive-thru that serves food people actually feel good about eating."
Anthony Menicola raises four children and brings years of work in fitness and business ventures to the table. His track record positions him well to spearhead expansion along the East Coast.
Trace Miller and Jammie Miller launched Konala in 2023, centering the concept around protein bowls served through drive-thru windows. They chose the name as a tribute to Kona and Nala, their two rescue dogs.
Bowls come in varieties like Teriyaki Chicken, Greek Steak, and Chicken Burrito. Protein content hits 55 grams in select bowls. Diners pick from white rice, brown rice, greens, or a combination as their base.
"We couldn't ask for a better franchise partner to lead the New Jersey expansion," said Trace Miller. "Anthony understands the mission and has the operational experience to bring Konala to high-demand markets in New Jersey. This opening sets the tone for a strong rollout across the state."
Every item on the menu contains no gluten. Fryers don't exist in any location, and sugary sodas aren't sold.
Each restaurant operates within a small space and requires minimal construction time. Customers order online, through delivery apps, or at outdoor tables.
