New Jersey Has One Of The Best Popcorn Shops In America
Popcorn is synonymous with watching movies and providing some cheer among friends. Taste of Home recently published the best popcorn places in America, and a New Jersey shop was named.
“More than 17 billion quarts of popcorn are consumed by Americans every year, according to industry analysts.,” See California reports.
Aside from the smiles, there are additional benefits to popcorn. Compared to many other kid-friendly snacks, popcorn is relatively low in calories. That’s, of course, as long as you don’t load it up with butter or caramel (but even that is OK sometimes).
To add to the fun that comes with a bag of popcorn, Parade recently ranked the 25 best popcorn flavors. Movie theatre butter, white cheddar, and caramel ranked as the three highest. But popcorn is so good that even “plain” ranked in the top six.
However, the New Jersey popcorn shop that was named among the best is actually famous for its caramel flavoring.
Johnson’s Popcorn – Ocean City
With the main daily location at 1360 Boardwalk, Johnson’s Popcorn has been in business since 1940. This snack is a staple along the Jersey Shore boardwalk. In fact, they have two other boardwalk-accessible spots as well. One of them is on 6th Street, and the other is on 8th Street across from the music pier.
As for flavor options, it would be hard to find a customer who doesn’t love a barrel of their legendary caramel. In addition, you can find other varieties, such as cheddar, peanut crunch, and chocolate drizzle. Lastly, Johnson’s also gets creative with some specialty options. For example, the “platinum” is peanut crunch mixed with chocolate drizzle.
Johnson’s recognizes that you can never have too much popcorn, so they offer sizes ranging from a small tub to a bucket to a 3.5-gallon tin. Yes, commemorative Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies tins are available here.
