Wawa Plans To Open At Least 5 More Stores In N.J. In 2023
Wawa is one of the most popular convenience stores in New Jersey and now Graden State residents can rejoice as more stores are set to open this year. The convenience store is a New Jersey staple as they are known for its sandwiches, coffee, and gas.
Here is where Wawa is set to open this year according to its website.
– Brick (10 Lanes Mill Rd.)
– Mount Laurel (3280 Route 38)
– Ramsey (966 Route 17 N.)
– Oaklyn (1006 White Horse Pike)
– East Hanover (28 Route 10)
These five stores are expected to open in spring 2023 but exact opening dates have yet to be announced. Wawa opened its first store in Folsom, PA in 1964. The first New Jersey store opened four years later in 1968. They began selling coffee in 1975 and later expanded its drink menu to specialty beverages like hot and iced lattes, hot chocolate and more in 2012 following its launch of smoothies and frozen cappuccinos in 2010. Its first fuel store opened in Millsboro, DE in 1996 with its 200th fuel store opening in 2006.
Wawa currently operates over 270 locations in New Jersey. There are more than 900 Wawas nationwide. However, according to CEO Chris Gheysens that they have no plans on slowing down. Gheysens told the Philadelphia Business Journal that they want to operate about 1,800 locations by 2030 which would double its current store count.
