Are you ready for some football?!?!

The Penn State Nittnay Lions are back in action, and you can catch all the action on 1250 WMTR, and streaming on wmtram.com beginning tonight when the Lions head to Purdue to face the Boilermakers in what should be a huge early season Big Ten clash.

Returning to the 2022 squad is quarterback Sean Clifford, who enters his sixth year of eligibility at Penn State and his fourth year as the starter overall. He put up the best numbers of his career last year, tossing for 3,107 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. It helped that he had a speedster in Jahan Dotson at wide receiver.

Dotson is now catching passes for the Washington Commanders of the NFL this year.

That means Parker Washington and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, two guys who combined for over 1,300 yards receiving last year, will be key factors for the Nittnay Lions again in 2022.

Behind Clifford in the backfield, expect to see alot of running back Keyvonne Lee, who ran for 530 yards last year to lead the team.

Of course Penn State is typically all about defense. The Nittnay Lions lost a number of key players to the NFL this past spring including Arnold Ebiketie, Jaquan Brisker and Tariq Castro-Fields.

It will be fascinating to see how this younger unit improves over the course of the season.

Again Penn State and Purdue kick off at 8 p.m. right here on WMTR 1250. Catch the pregame at 6:30.
