Governor Phil Murphy announced today (August 3) that face coverings will be required for all New Jersey students upon returning to school.

Regardless of social distancing, masks will be required for students at all times while inside a school building, unless doing so would inhibit the individual's health.

"The updated guidance from @NewJerseyDOE on face coverings for students will also include several exceptions to this standard including an exception for certain students with disabilities," Murphy shared to Twitter.

The New Jersey Department of Education is currently finalizing a FAQ document about reopening plans for schools.

Murphy and DOE Commissioner Lamont O. Repollet previously released “The Road Back: Restart and Recovery Plan for Education” to assist schools with reopening in the fall.
