New Jersey is set to open 4 pop-up hospitals to assist with the surge in patients due to the coronavirus pandemic. As of today (March 24), there are 3,675 positive cases and 44 deaths recorded on the NJ COVID-19 Dashboard.
Governor Murphy announced earlier this week that he came to an agreement with President Trump and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to put up the new locations.
The Atlantic City Convention Center, Meadowlands Exposition Center (Secaucus), and the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center (Edison) are among the list.
Critical care patients who do not show symptoms of COVID-19 will be housed in the new facilities. There will be 250 beds placed in each of these field hospitals and there has yet to be a timeline for which they will be set up.
