New Jersey Now Has 98 Positive Cases of COVID-19

As of today (March 15), New Jersey now has 98 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state. Governor Phil Murphy shared the updated New Jersey COVID-19 Dashboard at 1:00 p.m. which includes test results by county.

Two deaths have been reported including a woman in her 50s who was being treated at Monmouth County's CentraState Medical Center and a 69-year-old man whom was admitted to Hackensack University Medical Center in Bergen County.

According to the New Jersey COVID-19 Dashboard, "These numbers are subject to change as the Department reconciles data we receive from commercial laboratories."

NJ Health revealed that the "risk of these outbreaks depends on the characteristics of the virus." This includes how well it spreads between people, the severity of the resulting illness, and the medical control of the virus.

COVID-19 is a respiratory infection caused by a novel virus that arose from the area of Wuhan, China in December of 2019.
