October 9th marks the birth anniversary of John Winston Lennon. He formed a skiffle band, the Quarrymen, which evolved into the Beatles in 1960. After their phenomenal success, Lennon had a successful solo career, which was tragically cut short when he was shot to death outside his Manhattan home in 1980.
