Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live from Liverpool and Springsteen on Broadway were both nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special.
The McCartney/Carpool Karaoke special received three additional nominations for Oustanding Writing for a Variety Special, Oustanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special.
If Springsteen wins Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), he will become an EGOT winner. (An EGOT winner is someone who has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony.) He has previously won an Oscar for Best Original Song for "Streets of Philadelphia" in 1994, a Special Tony Award for Springsteen on Broadway in 2018 and 20 Grammy Awards over the course of his career.
The 71st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air live from the Microsoft Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 22 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on Fox.
