Lost Beatles Footage to be Screened for First Time in 50 Years

Central Press/Getty ImagesThe Beatles appeared on the popular BBC series "Top of the Pops" back in 1966, but for years, footage from the performance was presumed lost until now.
Per Forbes, a 92-second live clip of The Beatles performing "Paperback Writer" has now been found and restored and will be part of a screening taking place on June 1 at England's Birmingham City University. Until now, only an 11-second clip of the performance existed. Other supposed lost footage will be screened at the event including performances from Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, the Hollies, Spencer Davis Group, The Troggs, Small Faces and Ike and Tina Turner.
The person responsible for all of this new footage being available is David Chandler, who was described by Forbes as "a music enthusiast." Chandler found a number of 8mm film reels that turned out to yield these incredible findings, which have since been remastered by Kaleidoscope, which specializes in finding "lost" film and had recently put out a search for any footage from shows like "Top of the Pops.
So far, the BBC has yet to announce whether they will air this footage, but hopefully a decision will come down soon.
