Wayback Wednesday: Chuck McCann
Lots of great childhood memories probably flooded back to you, as they did for me, when we heard that the great Chuck McCann had passed away this week at the age of 83. Chuck hosted a number of kids’ shows, first on Channel 5 in New York, then on Channel 11. Later the multi-talented Mr. McCann
voiced cartoon characters in Duck Tales, Chip N’Dale Rescue Rangers, Garfield and Friends, The New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh and more.
He also made the famous Cocoa Puffs commercials, as a cuckoo bird yelling “I’m cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!” In the early 70’s he also starred in those memorable “Right Guard” commercials, where he shared a medicine cabinet with his next door neighbor (Hi Guy!). He also acted in lots of TV shows and movies. Today on Wayback Wednesday it’s Chuck’s opening song for his WPIX show, as he sings “Put On A Happy Face” and dances through their studios. RIP Chuck McCann!
