On April 4, 1964 The Beatles achieved something that had never been done before, and hasn’t been accomplished since. On Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart for that week, The Beatles had all of the Top 5 songs! It was truly the height of Beatlemania in the U.S. Here’s how they stacked up:

  • #5 Please Please Me
  • #4 I Want To Hold Your Hand
  • #3 She Loves You
  • #2 Twist and Shout
  • And #1 that week, leaping up from #27 the previous week (an upward move that also set a record)…Can’t Buy Me Love

On this week’s Wayback Wednesday WMTR salutes this singular achievement, with a live performance of that #1 hit, just a few weeks after this
On Great Britain’s New Musical Express show.
