WATCH: New Van Morrison Video “Transformation”
Van Morrison is continuing the campaign for his new album with a video for “Transformation,” the second track released in front of Roll The Punches.
The clip for the slow-burning, soulful song, which bears as light resemblance to the Impressions‘ “People Get Ready,” features Morrison and his band performing the song live on July 11 at Portchester Hall in London; It does not include Jeff Beck, who appears on the album version of “Transformation.”
The track follows Morrison’s version of “Bring It On Home To Me,” the album’s first single.
Morrison says in a statement that, “The songs on ‘Roll With The Punches’ — whether I’ve written them or not — they’re performance oriented. Each song is like a story and I’m performing that story. That’s been forgotten over years because people over-analyse things. I was a performer before I started writing songs and I’ve always felt like that’s what I do.”
Roll With The Punches is due out September 22.
Morrison’s six-date U.S. tour starts September 10 at the Outlaw Music Festival in Hershey, Pa., with a U.K. and Ireland swing during November and early December.
