Def Leppard Tease Playing ‘Hysteria’ In Its Entirety In 2018
Def Leppard‘s landmark Hysteria album may be turning 30 this year, but the group may actually be celebrating it next year, according to guitarist Phil Collen.
Collen said in a recent interview that Def Leppard is definitely planning to tour in 2018 (reportedly co-billed with Journey) and that, “We’re getting some offers to play the whole album all the way through…So, yeah, we’ll be doing that.”
No dates have been announced for 2018 yet.
Collen tells us that playing the whole of Hysteria isn’t necessarily a huge stretch for the band, however:
“We do, like, seven songs off it, anyway. It’d be nice to throw the odd one in, just another song, kinda really hit it…My favorite album is ‘Hysteria,’ and it was a masterpiece, mainly because of (producer) Mutt Lange.”
Def Leppard recently released a Hysteria 30th anniversary box set featuring B-sides, demos, alternative versions and live audio and visual material. The album has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide and spawned seven hit singles including “Animal,” “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and “Love Bites,” the group’s only No. 1 hit in the U.S.
Def Leppard has three festival shows left on its itinerary this year, during the fall in Brazil, Chile and Mexico.
