Springsteen Planning More Live Releases In The Near Future
Bruce Springsteen‘s continuing series of archival live releases will be expanding in the coming months — including the release today (August 4) of some particularly desired material from 40 years ago.
According to Brad Serling of Nugs.net, which manages Springsteen’s official “bootleg” series, the newest release will blend material from two shows on Springsteen’s famed 1977 Lawuit Tour, from February 7 in Albany, N.Y. and the next night in Rochester, N.Y.; The former is particularly rare because not even bootleg material has been released from that show.
The title comes from tapes owned by former Springsteen sound mixer Chas Gerber, and the tour was notable because it features the E Street Band augmented by the Miami Horns section, playing material from Springsteen’s three albums to that date as well as covers and early renditions of songs Springsteen was working on for 1978’s Darkness On The Edge Of Town — including rarities such as “The Promise” and “Action In The Streets.”
Serling also says that Nugs.net has 25 shows ready for release, with plans to put a new one out the first Friday of each month.
The most recent release in the series came from Springsteen’s final show at the Spectrum in Philadelphia on October 20, 2009.
