Elton John Cancels "Million Dollar Piano" Vegas Shows For April And May

Sickness has grounded the Rocket Man.

Elton John has canceled his next round of "Million Dollar Piano" shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas during April and May due to what's called "a harmful and unusual bacterial infection...rare and potentially deadly" he contracted after a recent tour of South America.

A statement says that John "became violently ill" on the flight from Santiago, Chile,, back to London where he was admitted to a hospital and "underwent immediate treatment to remove the infection...Elton was released from hospital on Saturday, April 22 and is now comfortably resting at home per doctor's advice."

John also canceled a May 6 concert in Bakersfield, Calif. He's slated to begin performing again on June 3 in Twickenham, England, to kick off a European tour. John added in the statement that, "I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologise for disappointing them. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well."
