We've heard plenty from Michael McDonald during the past two decades, but no new music in nearly all that time.
That will change on September 15 when the onetime Doobie Brothers member and Steely Dan cohort releases Wide Open, his first album since the 2008 covers collection Soul Speak and his first of new material since Blue Obsession in 2000.
McDonald is joined on Wide Open by saxophonist Branford Marsalis, Gov't Mule/Allman Brothers Band guitarist Warren Haynes, guitarist Robben Ford and bassist Marcus Miller. McDonald will also play summer concert dates, starting June 10 in Lincoln, Calif. with dates scheduled into November.
McDonald recently popped up at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival with bassist Thundercat with whom he and Kenny Loggins recorded the song "Show You The Way."
More information about "Wide Open" is expected in the near future.
