On February 22nd, 1954, ABC Radio’s Don Mc Neill’s Breakfast Club program was simulcast on TV for the first time. I remember as a young kid hating the Breakfast Club on the radio, where every day it interrupted the Top 40 format on WABC in New York, until they were finally able to drop it in the late 1960’s. The show dated back to the 1930’s, and really was a throwback.
This is what the opening of the show looked like on TV, complete with the Chicago skyline. And, by the way, broadcast from the Morrison Hotel, over a decade and a half before The Doors did an album with that title!
