Dave Davies has announced a March 31 release for his next album, Open Road, as well as a 14-date U.S. tour getting under way on April 6 in Milwaukee.
Davies collaborated on the album with his son Russell Davies, who's best known in the electronic music world and has produced more than 15 albums. But the elder Davies tells us the project is more of a collaboration than a collision:
"It's a real collaboration that, we both sing on it and we share the instruments and arrangements. It's pretty much a collaborative project...I think the songs are great. Russell's a great writer in his own right...It's very different but I think it'll have a very broad appeal, I think. It's rock. It's songs, melodic songs, and Russell's got a lovely voice and I think our voices work really well together. I'm very excited about it."
Davies, who turned 70 on February 3, will beat older brother and Kinks partner Ray Davies' new album, Americana, which is due out April 21.
