New McCartney Solo Compilation On The Way

Paul McCartney will be digging into his past for his next album release.

After posting a cryptic five-second audio message on Twitter earlier in the week, McCartney has announced the release of Pure McCartney, a compilation that will be released in single, double and four-disc configurations.

McCartney's record company posted the cover for the set online, but no release date or track lists have been revealed yet. The Twitter message, however, blasts through 70 songs from McCartney's solo and Wings days, from "Maybe I'm Amazed" through five songs from his most recent album, New. More details are expected soon.

McCartney returns to the road on April 13 in Fresno, Calif., with 16 shows currently scheduled in the U.S. and Europe.
