The Kinks' Ray Davies had some news for fans in a new interview with Billboard.
Davies tells the mag that after spending the past year or so working on the "Sunny Afternoon" musical in London, he's ready to start working on his next solo album:
"I had a book out year and a half ago called 'Americana' and there are 100 some songs with that I need to start recording...There is music coming."
Davies would only say the Americana album will be out "soon" without specifying a time frame.
As for a Kinks reunion, Davies says that,
"It really depends. This is always my answer. If we make it relevant to new music. Not saying we need an album, but it's got to relate to new music...I like playing the hits...but when the Kinks get back together I need to be inspired to write new material."
Davies' brother, Kinks guitarist Dave Davies, has said he's open to a Kinks reunion but nothing has transpired so far.
