What a way to go out.
Bob Dylan made a rare television appearance last night on the penultimate episode of The Late Show with David Letterman and performed “The Night We Called It A Day” off his latest album of Frank Sinatra standards, Shadows in the Night.
We dare anyone to watch this performance and not get choked up just a little bit. It was somehow both heartbreaking and beautiful and definitely a rival final musical performance to Bette Midler’s, when she bid farewell to Johnny Carson in 1992.
Out of all the incredible musical performances Letterman has had over the years, this one, without a doubt, ranks up there with the best of the best.
